Freedom or Else

The Gadsden Flag AR-15/M4A1 model Freedom or Else

Model Description

Freedom or Else was one of the time-released models that came out in the latter half of 2024. This limited-edition UV printed model is the first of the AR equivalent models to use GoatGuns medium length free float handguard and barrel in the base model. We are also confident saying this is the first GoatGuns model to come with their enclosed red dot optic in the box. The paint job for FoE is based on the American, Gadsden Flag.

The free float hand guard, upper receiver, lower receiver, grip and SOPMOD stock are all yellow in color with a UV printing of the American Timber Rattler coiling all over it with the snake coming up the grip and ending with the head just above and in front of the trigger facing forward. There is also a ghosted image of a billowing American Flag overlaying the model with the stars at the front representing the firearm moving towards the action. The suppressor, barrel, slip grip mag, dust cover, red dot sight, magazine release, trigger, selector, charging handle, buffer tube, stock pad, and various screws are all black. The stand is also painted, the top and mounting tab are black, while the sides are the same yellow as the model with the snake depicted near the front and rear corners. In the middle of the stand is a depiction of the same grass shape you'd see on the flag though a little squished and stretched, and the words “FREEDOM OR ELSE” sitting on the grass.

Since some people seem to want to associate the Gadsden Flag with an extremist or hate symbol these days we are going to provide a little back story. It was created back when the United States were fighting for independence from Great Brittan. Though he isn't associated with the flag, Benjamin Franklin helped to create the symbol of the American rattlesnake. Colonel Christopher Gadsden and Commodore Esek Hopkins each made significant contributions to the history of the rattlesnake flag and to America's history in general.

Franklin drew, carved and published an American newspaper's first political cartoon, it depicted a snake cut into eight segments representing the colonies. The Curves of the snake were suggestive of the coastline with South Carolina as the tail and New England as the head. Beneath the images were the words “Join or Die”. It was the snake's trait of honorably cautioning its enemies to beware the dangers of stepping on it that Benjamin Franklin felt suited the colonial Americans.

Gadsden Designed the “Don't Tread of Me” Flag in 1775 during the American Revolutionary War. It was flown along side the Liberty Flag as a motto flag of the Continental Maries. It was also flown on the Naval ship the Alfred, under Commander and chief of the Navy, Esek Hopkins. Once the United States adopted the Stars and Stripes as its official flag, the Gadsden Flag was mainly viewed as a relic of the revolution. Seeing spikes in popularity from libertarians in the 1970s, and after the events of September 11, 2001.
