Tommy Boy

Tommy Boy

The GG original M1A1 model

Model Description

Tommy boy was one of the first six models released by GoatGuns back in 2017. The models upper and lower receiver separate just like the real thing and to be honest it is practically just as simple. Something we would have appreciated if they added it to that the bolt locked open when cocked back and released on a trigger pull.

The models' colors are very simple, the front grip running parallel to the bottom side of the barrel, The trigger grip, and the stock are all plastic pieces painted to resemble wood grain probably using a hydro dip film process. The rest of the model is diecast metal finished with black paint.

Since its release GoatGuns has put out two other Thompson models with a very similar color scheme, it could be argued that these are the same model with just a rebranded name but since they distinguished the three models we have as well. When comparing the three models side by side the simulated wood pieces on Tommy Boy is a lighter color with a slightly more orange tint than the other two and the grain of the wood is more subtle, and in some areas it is easy to assume it is just a smooth plastic finish. Something else that is unique to the Tommy Boy model is that the charging handle has a slot in it while the other two do not. The base of this model also has the branding they put on the early models with GoatGun on one side and Tommy Boy on the other in what looks like a silver leaf or chrome.

Around 1942, the “Tommy Gun” had become the most famous machine submachine gun on World War II. Having seen the importance of the nickname, AOC patented the name. This is why GoatGuns dropped the name Tommy Boy, having been issued a cease-and-desist letter by a firm on behalf of the patent holder. The company that holds the patent when approached seemed interested in working with GoatGuns in the future.
